12 Years In Jail For Timeshare Fraudster

Kristopher Chavez has been convicted by jury, of one count of violating the Colorado Organised Crime Control Act, one count of theft of an at-risk elder, and 19 counts of felony theft.

According to the initial indictment from December 2016, Chavez operated a timeshare fraud scheme from 2014 to 2016. He would contact timeshare owners from across the U.S, most of whom were elderly and vulnerable. Hilton Grand Vacations Plan New Resort In Maui

Hilton Grand Vacations is planning a new Resort on the island of Hawaii and is expected to be completed in 2021, according to Hilton News Release.

Maui Bay Villas will be set on 27 acres and consist of 388 timeshare units which includes, one, two and three bedroom suites. Amenities will include a clubhouse and restaurant, fitness centre, food market and large pool with beachfront views.

Disney’s Riviera Resort Open For Reservations

Disney’s Riviera Resort is now accepting guest reservations for stays beginning in December 2019. The new resort is the 15th Disney Vacation property. Disney’s Riviera Resort is said to be inspired by Walt and Lillian Disney’s travels throughout Europe and the Mediterranean coastline.

Hilton Grand Vacations Appoints New Vice President Of Resort Operations

Hilton Grand Vacations has announced it has appointed a new member to the executive team. Tim Loughman, will join HGV as Vice President of Resort Operations, where he will oversee resort operations for 15 Hilton Grand Resorts located on the East Coast of the US.

Marriott Vacations in court again

In the ongoing case of Marriott V Ritz-Carlton Club members, a federal judge partly granted a sanctions motion.

Owners filed the motion earlier in the year, claiming Marriott was acting unreasonably, and in bad faith, by hiding essential documents from the court. Marriott Vacationssaid they had simply made a mistake by failing to hand over key evidence in the class action, claiming it caused the owners’ property values to plummet.

Man who promised to recover timeshare fees jailed

Officials in Singapore have sentenced another timeshare fraudster, after he was involved in multiple cheating scams, duping unsuspecting timeshare owners into believing he could recover money from terminating their timeshare memberships. He has been sentenced to 3 and a half years imprisonment for his part in this huge scam.

A court heard that during the course of three years, over 50 victims reported to police that they were cheated by the defendant into paying money to recover some of the money they had already paid to their timeshare resorts. South Africa Timeshare industry set for major overhaul

The regulatory body which overseas timeshares in South Africa say that they are preparing a major overhaul, after receiving thousands of complaints from unhappy consumers. The National Consumer Commission, which regulates consumer and business interaction, launched an inquiry in May 2017 to better understand the consumer impact of the timeshare and vacation ownership industry. Hearings were conducted over the course of six months and a panel of experts approved the recommendations, to correct structural and behavioural issues in the industry.

Timeshare Company Could Face Prosecution

A timeshare travel company based in Cape Town, could face prosecution for multiple charges, including tricking customers into signing up for a membership.

Vacation Hub International, a membership based travel and lifestyle company, is being investigated by South Africa’s National Consumer Commission. The NCC is the primary regulator of consumer business in South Africa, and helps regulate business practices. After investigating the company, NCC referred the case to its prosecutors. Timeshare still popular in the United States

Timeshare giant Wyndham Destinations has commissioned a survey, in an attempt to gauge the future prosperity of the timeshare industry in the US. According to the survey of 1,250 Americans, almost half believe they will spend more than $80,000 on holidays during their lifetime. More than half of the people surveyed said they had stayed in a timeshare and a whopping 80% said they had enjoyed the experience.
