Orange Lake Resorts In Court

A federal judge in Florida has dismissed timeshare resort Orange Lake Country Club’s law suit, claiming a law firm encouraged timeshare owners to break their contracts.

In 2017, a law firm based in Seattle told the court Orange Lake Resorts were suing them in revenge to the firms representation of consumers who want to end their timeshare agreements. Orange Lake was attempting to stop the firm and its attorneys from helping clients with concerns about their agreements.

In January this year, the Judge denied another lawyers bid to escape the lawsuit claiming he participated in a conspiracy with the timeshare termination company, to encourage timeshare owners to break their contracts with Orange Lake. The Judge dismissed these claims, stating that the attorney in question had a personal stake in the case brought by Orange Lake and its financing arm.

Orange Lake’s lawsuit against the timeshare termination team accused it of scheming to interfere in the contracts between the timeshare resort developer and property owners. The complaint alleged that that the timeshare termination team presents itself as a consumer protection group, that relieves timeshare owners of their obligations. They said the firm isn’t actually helping people get out of a situation in which a company did something illegal. Orange Lake have declared that the termination company simply wanted to divert property owners money to themselves instead of toward paying the annual maintenance fees, taxes or mortgage payments for their timeshares. The case will continue in court until an agreement between both parties is reached.

People who enter into Timeshare agreements often find it difficult to keep up with the mounting maintenance fees and simply cannot afford it any longer. They may also find that the Timeshare no longer suits their needs and simply want to end the contract. There are too many individuals who are willing to take advantage of Timeshare owners and offer fake products, along with Timeshare exit schemes. Before agreeing to any Timeshare termination or exit procedure with an individual or company, seek independent advice and fully research any company you are thinking of working with.

It is also important to remember that purchasing a Timeshare should NEVER be viewed as a financial investment. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays and family time together. There is almost no resale value to a Timeshare.

The mis-selling of holiday products is, unfortunately, common practice within the holiday industry and these type of crimes often go unreported by the most Susceptible in our society and criminal convictions are few and far between.

If you have purchased a Lifestyle / Concierge Service, a Timeshare or a ‘Holiday Points’ based product from a resort or company and feel unhappy with the service, or feel you have been mis-sold this product, please get in touch with us to discuss how we may be able to help you with a possible Timeshare Termination.
