Orange Lake Country Club Changes Name

One of the biggest timeshare resorts in the US, Orange Lake County Club has announced it will be changing its name to Holiday Inn Club Vacations.

The timeshare giant says it is to change its name to Holiday Inn Club Vacations, so it can capitalise on growth in the timeshare industry. They say that their membership intake has more than doubled in the last ten years. This is the first of several developments the company have undertaken to help draw in new members.

The company recently announced a 100 year extension to its affiliation with IHG. The new agreement gives Holiday Inn Club vacations exclusive rights to develop and sell timeshare interests under the Holiday Inn Club Vacations brand until 2119. This means the resort can expand its current resort network outside the United States.

The two companies joined forces back in 2008 and since then have experienced tremendous growth. They have expanded from 4 to 28 resort properties, they have also tripled the number of owners and club members, from 120,000 to 350,000. Holiday Inn Club Vacation members can exchange points into the Intercontinental Hotels Group Rewards club and use their ownership to stay at any of the groups 5,600 hotels and resorts worldwide.

Holiday Inn Club Vacations Chairman, Spence Wilson said: “My father, Kemmons Wilson, helped define the family vacation with the launch of the first Holiday Inn more than 60 years ago. A closer association of our vacation ownership with the iconic Holiday Inn brand and his legacy of creating memorable family travel experiences best positions our company for future growth, exciting partnerships and innovative programs.”

Purchasing a timeshare

Before purchasing any type of holiday product, do the math. Can the initial purchase price provide you with an affordable and cost effective holiday each year. Can you gain access to the types of locations and facilities you want to visit, when you want to visit them? There are too many timeshare and holiday club members who report being unhappy with the standard of their accommodations using their annual point’s allowance.

Research any company or organisation you are thinking of investing your hard earned cash in, it is important to note that point’s owning members enjoying the highest levels of satisfaction generally don’t holiday during peak seasons and have a good understanding of how to get the most out of their memberships.

New and exclusive developments are sure to attract many new customers seeking a unique holiday experience. However many are persuaded to purchase point-based holiday products which are often non-refundable and with virtually no resale value. In addition to this you will face mounting maintenance fees.

It is also important to remember that purchasing a Timeshare should NEVER be viewed as a financial investment. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays and family time together. There is almost no resale value to a Timeshare.

The mis-selling of holiday products is, unfortunately, common practice within the holiday industry and these type of crimes often go unreported by the most vulnerable in our society and criminal convictions are few and far between.

If you have purchased a Lifestyle / Concierge Service, a Timeshare or a ‘holiday points’ based product from a resort or company and feel unhappy with the service, or feel you have been mis-sold this product, please get in touch with us to discuss how we may be able to help you with a possible timeshare termination.
