Fraudsters have stolen £6.7 million from 4,700 unwitting holidaymakers in 2017 according to a report compiled by Action Fraud. Action Fraud is the National Fraud and Cyber Crime Reporting Centre, which is the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cyber-crime, to whom you should report any fraud in which you have been scammed, defrauded or experienced cyber-crime.

The General Data Protection Regulation is the biggest renewal and revamp by the EU of the current Data Protection Act and the most important change in Data Privacy in 20 years.

The raid followed public complaints from members of the public about automated calls promoting boiler and window replacement schemes.

Calls were even made to a Network Rail control centre near Fort William and as a result drivers and pedestrians were unable to check if it was safe to cross the rails at unmanned crossings.

Ken MacDonald, Head of ICO Scotland said, “these calls have caused millions of people disruption, annoyance and distress, but not only this, those made to a control centre charged with public safety may have endangered lives”.

Hundreds of jobs are set to be lost at Cameron House Hotel, in Loch Lomond.

This follows the terrible fire at the timeshare resort in December 2017, which sadly claimed the lives of a young couple who were staying at the hotel.

BBC Scotland has posted an article from information they have learned. A total of 300 posts out of 450 appear to be at risk. This may include 150 staff on zero-hour contracts. Sadly, these staff members have been informed that there will not be any work for them in the short term.

The Information Commissioners Office has stated there is a “lengthy and complex” inquiry underway. This is a result of Police officers removing computers from Himma Group in Nottingham.

The boss of Himma Group has been suspected of being part of a kingpin network cold-calling the public. The network is said to be linked to Pakistan. Mr Mian Arshad Mubasher says he is the innocent party in this investigation.

Government officials and police have raised an investigation into this cold-calling claims firm after they bombarded Britons with 200 million phone calls.

A website based in America has written a post regarding a Telemarketing Timeshare Scam by an Orlando resident.

Mr Daniel Boyar, a resident of Orlando, Florida has pleaded guilty for his part in defrauding over 1,000 victims via a telemarketing scheme, a scheme which saw many victims in their elderly years handing over more than $3.3 million.
The report showed that Mr Boyar pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud; two counts of mail fraud; and, two counts of wire fraud. United States District Judge James C. Mahan accepted his guilty plea. Sentencing … Read more
